Humans may be a stout wad in theStar Trekuniverse , but they ’re far from the strongest . In fact , many otherworldly backwash are so dangerous that they are considered premier threats by Starfleet . A lot of these different races act as enemy to the Federation , while others have since bushel fences , and become allies in pursual of a greater good .

Still , others remain as hostile as ever , with immense physical , genial , and military baron that typify a serious terror to the rest of the galaxy , if not the full creation . The scale of peril is a determining factor when it comes to approximate just how lethalStar Trek ’s foreign races are , and what they ’re rightfully capable of .

update on   December   8th , 2021 by Derek Draven : Humans are n’t the only species gad around the Star Trek beetleweed , and they ’re certainly not the most hefty . Many other specie possess abilities that rate from comparably strong , to almost God - like , and only a specific set of variable observe them in hinderance .

Robin Curtis and Kirstie Alley as Lt. Saavik in Star Trek.

Starfleet has had skirmish with many species that could wipe them out with a thought , while others have remained a lasting spine in the side of galactic peace . Others are immensely powerful , but bear no malice or ambitiousness , defecate them wild cards in term of galactic variety . It ’s worth taking a face at a few more that even hardcore Trekkies sometimes leave about .

Tribbles

They ’re cute , cuddly , and irresistible , but left to their own evolutionary devices , Tribbles defend a very real threat . These little balls of fur multiply at an exponential charge per unit , whilst consuming all available food for thought in a surrounding sphere , and they do not stop - ever .

All it takes is a small opus of food to fire a Tribble ’s reproductive hertz , at which gunpoint they engulf an area with overpowering number . Still , their power to calm the human nervous system upon signature makes them a forgivable threat for many species around the galaxy .

The Xindi

The Xindi were a collection of five distinct species that were all native to the planet Xindus .   The Xindi - Insectoid and Xindi - Reptilian people became so distrustful of each other that they both lead to the reciprocal disintegration of their rest home world .   Even after   it was destroyed , they hold out as a spacefaring alliance .

The transdimensional Sphere Builders guided the surviving species to inhabitable planet , and urged them to construct massive celestial artillery .   This made them a huge threat to the safety and security of the extragalactic nebula at gravid , and the Xindi went down in history as one of the Federation ’s first real challenge .

The Vulcans

Vulcans were the first extraterrestrial metal money encountered by humans inStar Trek , and   with their direction , rose to become a major player on the galactic stage .   While they are highly in advance and clear up , they still carry some holdovers from their more primitive emotional development , and are not to be trifled with .

They are known for being   resilient , both mentally and physically . Many Vulcans are adequate to of disable another sentient with a unmarried mite , referred to as the Vulcan nervus hint .   While apparently benign , Vulcans can be rather ruthless , cold , and calculating - a side core of their dispassionate veneration to pure logic .

The Cardassians

Cardassians are a orphic and militaristic racenotorious for their mercilessness , and their society is stringently regimented . Banana republic - flair political science and kangaroo courts were a mainstay of the oppressive Communist - way authorities , and the Cardassians always seemed to mesh in dangerous mind game against both enemy , and champion alike .

They bear out many atrocities in their zeal to predominate the galaxy , and expand . The most serious of these was the conquest and authoritarian occupation of Bajor , in which trillion of Bajorans were imprisoned , tormented , and/or executed . They became a significant menace during the Dominion War , where their militaristic talents were put to frontline use .

The Klingons

Klingons are one of the most popular and long-suffering races in theStar Trekfranchise . Their zeal for combat and glory made them a formidable military threat throughout the galaxy .   Most Klingons , both male and female , are ferocious fighters who undergo grueling rite of enactment so as to become honor - bound warrior .

Though Klingon society is ostensibly ruled by a common sense of honor and custom , the Empire has suffered dearly from political double - dealing and infighting .   They are not fully trusted by the Federation , mostly because of their erratically unfriendly nature , which can turn them from ally to enemy at the drop of a chapeau .

The Romulans

Romulans share a common antecedent with Vulcans , butthe Romulan history is much more complicatedthan that . Whereas Vulcans treasure logic and foster harmony , Romulans note value aspiration , and rely on cunning to advance themselves . Advancement in the military was the greatest honour a Romulan could earn .

They are best known for being masters of the farseeing biz , sometimes waiting decades to effect a professional plan . Their weaponry and ship engineering science is on par with the Federation ’s best , but their cloaking technology fall in them a frightening reward in a conflict . The compounding of elements makes Romulans a huge threat .

The Gorn

While reptilian in appearance , the Gorn own a smashing reason , to the point of being able to accomplish warp travel . They are also one of the strong species in the integral galaxy , with strong-arm effort of strength that greatly outnumber many others from different worlds . They were first premise in classicTrek , whenKirk had to employ both his fists and his brainto defeat one in fight .

The Gorn were territorial and aggressive , but not necessarily warlike . Their culture may have been xenophobic to a point , though they were later known to share in astronomic events , while mix with other species . However , very few dare to cross them .

The Tholians

The Tholians were a - non humanoid , puzzling coinage first introduced toStar Trekaudiences as an antagonist race .   After trapping another Federation vessel , theDefiant , the Tholians attempt   the same with theEnterprise . The so - called " Tholian World Wide Web " was projected and woven in distance by their vessels , comprised of interconnected energy fibril .

Tholians were an instant buff favorite , despite remaining so mysterious . There were mentioned again in subsequentStar Trekseries , but they did n’t reappear on screen again untilStar Trek : Enterprise .   Their mod appearance was blood-related to a crystalline spider with intermediate summit , corresponding to human being .   Left unchecked , Tholians are a definite menace .

The Hirogen

The Hirogen were one of the most prevailing mintage in the Delta Quadrant when the Starship Voyager encountered them in the 24th   century . Much like the Yautja warrior of the Predator film franchise , the Hirogen based their integral culture on hunt worthy galactic target .

Physically , they were very imposing , with outstanding height and all-embracing composite armour . Every face of their technology heighten their martial and hunt capacity .   A single Hirogen hunting vessel command a minimum crew , and could command regions of place spanning many lite - days . They were considered an apex species in the Delta Quadrant .

The Zalkonians

While the Zalkonian backwash appear to be a ostensibly ordinary humanoid species , it ’s their evolutionary biology that makes them so muscular . On their own , individual Zalkonians are no stronger than an mean human , with comparable weapon and ship technology .

However , the Zalkonians were show to be taking the first steps towards an evolutionary ascension in the twenty-fourth century . The Enterprise - D gave good refuge to a Zalkonian dubbed John Doe , who was able of heal mortal wounds , send himself or other beings with a thought , and resurrect the dead .
