The Umbrella Academy
The Umbrella Academy , Netflix ’s adaptation of Gerard Way ’s comic that couch a very unique twist on the concept of a school full of mutant tyke working towards becoming the saviors of the public , just free its third revelatory season . The series focus on the Hargreeves syndicate immediately after their Church Father ’s death , and the titular Umbrella Academy is the school at which all of these preternaturally gifted kids learned to hone their skills and become heroes .
However , not everything aboutThe Umbrella Academyitself makes a whole lot of sensation . Like any show , it command some dangling of disbelief , but even accounting for that , there are some pretty glary issues in the series that have yet to be resolve .
Buying Babies
It go without state that literally buy a sister is kind of tabu . So why is it that Reginald Hargreeves can so prominently purchase half a 12 child from random women across the earthly concern , and no one has a problem with it ? And forget about the moral implication , would n’t the law get involve in a situation like this somehow ?
Season 3 made this issue an even bigger onewith the Sparrow Academy , as the first season ofThe Umbrella Academyestablishes that the original seven were the only children Reginald was able-bodied to purchase . So how is it that he managed to convince six of the other women who had n’t sold their children in the anterior timeline to sell them now ?
The Lost Children
All of the Hargreeves children seem to be gifted with some truly over-the-top world power . But they are not the only ones who were born in this outre phenomenon . Season 3 search it in much greater depth , but there are obviously quite a few superhero kids that were not acquired by Reginald Hargreeves .
Thus far , Reginald was able to procure enough children to populate the Umbrella Academy and then the Sparrow Academy , but as Lila demonstrated , there are canonically at least 43 superpowered humans survive in the world , and it ’s very foreign that they ’ve all managed to fend off catching .
Brotherly Love
Although it ’s obvious that both Luther and Sloane have very little striking with the world outside of what Reginald Hargreeves countenance them to see , it ’s quite bizarre how comfortable they are with romancing someone with the same father .
Clearly , Luther ’s interest in Sloane is much less unsettling than his belief for Allison , and it ’s great that they detect love with each other . But Luther ’s inability to be attracted to anyone who does n’t suffer the same surname as him is odd , and it ’s also strange that Sloane sees no trouble with it either .
Reginald’s Mission
Reginald Hargreeves collected a lot of unusual children for a specific purpose , ostensibly his design were to save the domain . But that reality offers up more motion than answers .
Firstly , how did Sir Hargreeves even know that the world would demand to be saved ? And if his ultimate goal was to habituate his children to prevent the Revelation of Saint John the Divine , why did n’t he ever let them bonk ? Plus , given that his kids actually seem to actively cause the end of day every meter it come up about , why did Reginald take the endangerment of creating another Academy when the first loop flush it so miserably ?
Dead Caregivers
The rich can get aside with everything , so although it ’s terrific , it ’s not an enormous stretch of the imagination to conceive that Reginald Hargreeves managed to cover up all of the caregivers that Viktor killed before he make up one’s mind to give him a less kill - able parent to manage his tantrums .
However , why did n’t any of the other nestling remember these nanny ? And why was there no probe into all of these miss citizenry ? Not to mention , why did n’t any of the other kids remember that Viktor really had superpowers ?
Robo-Mom
The idea of creating a robot mum to take care of the tyke is in reality a pretty clever one , but it does seem pretty left over that the full Hargreeves family does n’t question the reason why they would need to have an indestructible machine in lieu of a actual human caregiver , especially considering that Reginald did rent human nannies before .
Perhaps the experience grow up in the Umbrella Academy is strange enough that the shift would n’t stick out in anyone ’s memory . But consider how rarely they get in touch with anyone new , and considering that there were so many of them who could have remembered , that ’s unvoiced to believe .
Team Missions
Sir Reggie may be fertile , but he ’s not particularly creatively minded . His idea for a team of superpowered children save the day is nerveless , but it ’s also a unbowed - up X - human being ripoff . However , his idea around these law-breaking - fighting children are even singular , all things considered .
Yes , having the kid doing these full title is gracious , but in a lot of these circumstances their powers are n’t get going to be peculiarly utilitarian , so why even take them along in the first place when their comportment might hinder more than help ?
Christopher
Of all ofthe new Hargreeves children that were introduce in season 3 , Christopher is undoubtedly the most interesting and mystifying .
It ’s unclear who or what he is , and it ’s unclear whether or not he ever was human , although he definitely does n’t seem to be anything close to a soul as of now . Was Christopher really one of the children that was born on the same sidereal day as the rest of the Hargreeves Thomas Kyd ? And if he is , then how on the nose did a being like him elude detection in the anterior timeline where the Umbrella Academy were the unity who had been embrace by Reginald ?
Strange Mutations
In that same nervure , one of the most detectable differences between the Umbrella Academy and the Sparrow Academy is that the Sparrow kid seem to be far more prominently different . sure as shooting , characters like Jayme and Sloane look like intermediate citizenry , but others like Fei and Alphonso would definitely stand out in a crowd . So then , why did n’t they ?
Much like Christopher , if these superpowered child existed in the anterior timeline , then it makes no sense that they were capable to stay under the radar for so long when their unusual appearances should have pull a wad of attention even if their mogul remained concealed .
A Trip To The Moon

So that beg the enquiry , why now ? Leonard was obsessed with the Academy for years and had years to endeavor to ingratiate himself with anyone in the Academy , and it seems really odd that utterly no one even knew who he was , rent alone time him as a menace .
Viktor The Powerless
There is absolutely nothing normal about the Umbrella Academy or the children who were raised by Reginald Hargreeves . But what is quite freakish is that the Hargreeves child went for so long truly believing that Viktor had no superpowers .
Aside from the fact that they ’d seen him use his ability when they were younger , it simply does n’t make any sensory faculty that they would all be endue and Viktor would just be an average person . The fact that no one ever query it untilViktor actually displayed his talentsis baffling .
Can They All Give People Abilities?
The now - adult Harlan was a fundamental portion of season 3 ’s storey arc , and the ability that he got from Viktor were astoundingly powerful . Clearly , Viktor himself is the strongest of the Umbrella Academy , but the transmission of major power offers up an interesting possibility . Namely , is this something that all of the kidskin can do , but that they are n’t aware of as of yet ?

Do They Know Their Own Powers?

Vigilantism is illegal , and the fact that the Hagreeves clan fundamentally ripped the world apart in the days prior to the Revelation of Saint John the Divine without any legal intervention is pretty knockout to buy into .
